I’m an artist with a background in documentary photography, and much of my work begins with people, places and the stories that connect them.

Over the years, my practice has grown from simply recording those stories into creating artwork with the people who are part of them. I’m interested in what happens when hundreds, sometimes thousands, of individual photographs, memories, drawings and voices are brought together to make something much bigger.

That might become a photographic mosaic, a sculpture, a piece of public art or something entirely different. The materials and the finished form can change from project to project, but the idea of participation runs through everything I do.

I particularly enjoy making work that belongs to a place: exploring its history, meeting the people who live there and finding ways for their experiences to become part of the finished artwork.

I work across the UK with communities, schools, museums, cultural organisations, councils and developers, creating collaborative work for public spaces, exhibitions and events.

What I enjoy most is seeing people recognise that they are genuinely part of the artwork. A single photograph, drawing or memory might seem small on its own, but when it sits alongside hundreds of others it becomes part of a much bigger story.

For me, that is where the work becomes interesting. The finished piece matters, but so does the process of making it: the conversations, the unexpected contributions and the people who might never normally think of themselves as being involved in creating public art.

I want the work I make to feel generous and accessible, something people can approach without needing to know anything about art first. And when it becomes a permanent part of a place, I want the people who helped create it to be able to look at it years later and think, “I’m part of that.”
